Boundryless Energy to enjoy Happy Holidays !!!

~ Family Christmas Celebration ~

~ Family Christmas Celebration ~

Hi Folks,

Wish all of you a very Merry Christmas followed by a wonderful New Year of potential
awaiting you!!!

Here’s a quick read to help during the busy holidays to keep that energy while enjoying this season too !!

Are you dealing with another episode of the 3 p.m. doldrums? Can you feel your energy draining and your eyelids starting to droop as the afternoon wears on?

When fatigue drags you down, don’t look to a candy bar, cup of coffee, or energy drink for a solution. The sugar and caffeine might give you an immediate pick-me-up, but after that quick high wears off, you’ll crash and feel even more drained and groggy than before.

Want to boost energy in a real and lasting way? Here are a few fatigue fighters that will leave you feeling refreshed, revitalized, and ready to take on your day.

Easy Energy Boosters

Remember to …EAT breakfast ~ Thereโ€™s a reason itโ€™s called the most important meal of the day. A good, nutritious breakfast gives you the energy you need to stay awake and alert. People who eat breakfast every morning report less fatigue and stress than people who skip breakfast. High-fiber foods, like hot oatmeal, will stick with you longer than a sweet roll or pastry. As the day wears on, they’ll prevent you from getting hungry, which can also lead to low energy.

Do SOMETHING! Like a downward dog. Yoga has so many different health benefits, it’s a wonder everyone isn’t twisting themselves into pretzels to take advantage of them. Some studies have found that the practice, which uses various postures and deep breathing for exercise and meditation, can be an excellent fatigue fighter.

SING that Chrismas song ! There’s a reason why it feels so good to sing in the shower. Singing gives you a kind of emotional high, while it reduces levels of stress hormones in your body. So grab a hairbrush, put on your favorite song, and sing away. If you’re at work and you don’t want to face your co-workers’ puzzled stares, you might want to save your vocal stylings for the car.

ENJOY liquid refreshment … I mean the OTHER one ~ Water ! Your body needs fluid to function properly. Yet you’re constantly losing fluid every time you breathe, sweat, and use the bathroom. If you don’t replenish those liquids, you can become dehydrated, which can leave you feeling drained and fatigued. You don’t necessarily have to follow the “eight glasses a day” rule, but you do want to drink enough water to keep your body well hydrated. You can tell you’re well hydrated when you don’t feel thirsty, and if your urine is light-colored. Try to get to the fridge or water cooler for a refill every few hours. The walk there will also help you wake up.

Just ~ Go NUTS !! Eat a handful of almonds and peanuts, which are high in magnesium and folate (folic acid). These nutrients are essential for energy and cell production. A shortfall of these nutrients in your system can leave you feeling tired and weary.

Most of all Take the time to enjoy the holidays with those you care about most ~ It’s the BEST gift of all !!!

Here’s to celebrating the Holidays wherever you are Boundrylessly Everyone !! ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy ~ Healthy Holidays !

Hi Folks,

Family Fun in the Snow

Family Fun in the Snow

Here’s a quick read that hope will help you this busy holiday season to continue enjoying
Boundryless health.

Do some House Work

The scenario: A festive cookie exchange at the office causes you to miss your yoga class, company’s coming tonight, and the house is a mess.

Lucky you! “Housework is the best way to fit in a workout without even knowing it,” says Shannon Griffiths, group fitness director for Lakeshore Athletic Club in Boulder, Colo. Scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming … they all burn calories.

Even cooking fires up the calorie furnace, says Griffiths, especially if you’re moving around the kitchen. So put on perky music and boogie down while you bake.

Shop Until You Drop — Pounds!

“I like to use Christmas shopping as exercise, too,” says Me ๐Ÿ˜‰ who maintains that the best thing about going to the mall is all the walking. “That translates into a calorie burn.”

To maximize that burn, carry your own holiday packages, then unloading them after every stop.

If you’re going to buy something at several different shops, go out to your car between each store adds some walking AND calorie burrning too !!

To encourage yourself to make those multiple trips to the parking lot or to take the mall stairs instead of elevators, remember to wear a pedometer.

It will be motivating to see how much you walked AND got that holiday shopping done as well.

Keep your pace brisk and you can burn 250-300 calories an hour.

Make Snow Your Friend AND calorie burning helper too !

When it’s snowing, it’s time to bundle up and enjoy the free gym outside.

“The best calorie-burners are those that bring the heart rate up to a cardiovascular training zone,” says Julia C. Jackson, owner of Friends in Fitness Corporate Wellness and Personal Training in California. For most healthy people, the American Heart Association recommends an exercise target heart rate ranging from 50% to 75% of your maximum heart rate, which is normally calculated as the number 220 minus your age.

Jackson advocates snowshoeing as a great way to get into that range.

“Snowshoeing is fantastic,” Jackson says, “because absolutely anyone who can walk can snowshoe.” The big bonus: you’ll blaze through some 563 calories an hour doing it.

And don’t forget cross-country skiing, which Jackson says offers “a complete body workout,” building balance and coordination while burning about 650 calories an hour.

Prefer other winter sports? Downhill skiing flies through 352 calories an hour, while ice-skating glides through 493 calories an hour.

Or simply do a good warmup of bodyweight squats or split squats, chinups from a door with a towel to cushion your hands, and crank some pushups (for newbies on your knees with a pillow under them, or Advanced feet on a chair), then go play …. Ooops ~ shovel some snow AND play some too. Playing makes any task more fun, easier, and can be a family fun event….all while getting that driveway clear ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wish Everyone a Happy ~ Healthy and Safe Holidays !!!

Merry Christmas to All ~ followed by a Great New Year too folks !!

Savor your Health with these Savory herbs !

Hi Folks,

Savoring Healthy Herbs

Savoring Healthy Herbs

Hope you enjoy this post that will help you enjoy a healthy heart AND delicious healthy foods too !!

For years they’ve been the staples in holiday stuffing. Now it turns out they’re pretty fantastic for your heart, too. The savories in question? Celery and thyme.

In a study, a powerful flavonoid found in celery and thyme appeared to hinder the production of compounds that trigger inflammation. Good news for your heart, because high body-wide levels of inflammation can open the door to heart disease.

Good Guy ~ Bad Guy
Inflammation isn’t all bad. It’s a normal bodily process that you need to stay healthy. It allows helpful things to happen, like wound healing and infection fighting. But when inflammation runs amok — for either genetic or lifestyle reasons — the body suffers. It opens the door not only to heart disease but also to scourges like diabetes and cancer.

Health Hazards
Enter luteolin, the antioxidant compound found in celery and thyme. In fact, food is an excellent way to help combat excess inflammation in the body. Other foods that help fight inflammation include fish oil, nuts, pineapple (thanks to the bromelain), leafy greens rich in vitamin K, and herbs like thyme and oregano. Getting proper amounts of good sleep also may help quell cell-damaging inflammation. And controlling stress helps, too.

Now for some Yum Recipes to put this together !!

Rice Stuffing

* 2 can(s) (13 3/4 to 14 1/2 ounces each) chicken broth
* 2/3 cup(s) (1 4-ounce package) wild rice
* 1 teaspoon(s) salt
* 1/2 teaspoon(s) dried thyme or 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
* 2 tablespoon(s) vegetable oil
* 4 medium carrots, sliced
* 2 medium celery stalks, sliced
* 1 medium onion, chopped
* Medium-size mushrooms
* 1 1/2 cup(s) regular long-grain rice
* 1/4 cup(s) chopped parsley

1. In 4-quart saucepan over high heat, heat chicken broth, wild rice, salt, thyme, and 1 1/2 cups water to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 35 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, in nonstick 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Add carrots, celery, and onion and cook until tender-crisp, stirring occasionally. Remove carrot mixture to bowl.
3. In same skillet in 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, cook mushrooms until golden brown and all liquid evaporates.
4. Stir long-grain rice, carrot mixture, and mushrooms into wild rice; over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 20 minutes longer or until all liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. Stir in chopped parsley. Use to stuff 12- to 16-pound turkey. Or, spoon into serving bowl; keep warm.
